Dean Maidment - CEO

Dean Maidment
CEO

As the former Marketing Manager of Australia's most successful online travel company, Webjet.com.au, Dean has over seven years hands on experience in online marketing, communication and operations. Dean was at Webjet from its inception as a public company start up in 2000 to September 2007 where its Total Turnover Value (TTVL) was annualised at approximately AUD $330M.

Due to the initial start up nature of Webjet, Dean was part of a small senior management team, and was across all commercial areas of the business from software development and implementation, airline and GDS contract negotiations, Brand Management and compliance (online and offline), customer service, BPO outsourcing, finance, corporate reporting, public relations and communications through to ASX reporting and communication compliance.

With 20 years experience in the travel industry and particular travel automation and online systems, Dean brings a rare combination of technical and commercial skills to the table.

In addition, Dean's responsibility at Webjet included the management of their entire email marketing strategy and he was instrumental in growing the email database tenfold, while understanding the importance of split testing, database segmentation and reach and frequency with all outbound email campaigns.

Says Simon Chen, Co-Founder of TaguchiMail - “Hiring Dean as our CEO was an easy choice. He is a consummate professional, has hands on experience in the start-up area and knows how to build and scale a tech company. His people skills are first rate and attention to detail second to none. We are delighted to have him onboard and his appointment will allow us to focus on building a solid business both here in Asia Pacific and in the US markets”.

Simon Chen - Co-Founder

Simon Chen
Co-Founder

Simon has been involved with the internet since 2003. During the past 5 years while running his own online agency, he has had the good fortune of working with some truly great clients. From industry leading travel providers, telecommunications company's, property developers and online recruitment sites.

He has an extensive sales and marketing background, working for companies such as British Telecom, Hutchison Telecom, SITEL and InterCall. Between 1993 and 2003 – he lived in Asia and the US.

Prior to starting his own business, his most recent position was the Asia Pacific Managing Director for InterCall, the world's largest provider of audio and video conferencing solutions. He grew the Asia Pac business from 1 employee to 75 within 3 years and revenue from zero to $20M in the same time frame.

At the end of 2007, Simon sold his company, the Eight Black Group to Catalyst International, a leading marketing and communications group, which in turn is a member of the STW portfolio of companies.

He and Ben Dyer decided to start TaguchiMail out of frustration with the lack of email marketing tools available to marketers today and their combined passion for web analytics. Simon's key responsibility at TaguchiMail is business development, and investor relations – which includes dealing with and updating the company's Advisory Panel and key shareholders.

Advisory Panel

The Directors of TaguchiMail have been fortunate enough to gather a senior team of advisors to assist them with their ambitious growth plans, both locally and internationally.

The Panel was established soon after the company’s inception to oversee the strategic direction, advise on policy, to review investment opportunities both here and overseas and to ensure the company and its staff were adequately prepared and trained for the future.

In essence, the Panel operates in a very similar fashion to that of a normal company board. Given that TaguchiMail is a privately held organisation, there are not the same legal and/or financial obligations placed on our Panel members.

The Advisory Panel consists of a group of exceptional executives whose capabilities and contact details are summarized below.
